Illustration Friday - UTS (again)

I tried linking this before, but something went wrong. Here it is again. If you want the original copy use this URL (http://barrenmind.blogspot.com/2006/05/illustration-friday-under-sea.html)

Illustration Friday - Under the Sea

Here is a picture that I did yesterday based on the current topic. This is the 1st one of all the submissions so far that wasn't done prior to the topic being announced, meaning to say that this was the first actually inspired by the topic. Now, before I started doing the Illustration Friday thing, I'd been looking for something to do with my daughter (she's 8) creatively and I proposed that we have a 'drawing date' once a week and, in the last 2 months since trying to get that started, we've only done it twice successfully, this one being the second. Anyway, as I've been trying to stay on the IF topic, she has done her own stuff, but if we end up both being on topic, I will add her illustration here or I may create her own blog for her illustrations.
Anyway, enough of the disclaimer, enjoy the picture. I did this all in about 1/2 hour with a 2B pencil. Very soft, but very nice for rough work and deep, thick color. So I sketched this without really knowing what I was going to do, but after a few swirls and lines, the octopus began to take shape. So, I ran with it. Here it is.
